So, I just splurged and bought this piece. Sig Sauer P220 .45. I'm so excited to get it but of course the retarded state California has the 10 day waiting rule.

I originally saved up the the coast guard/DHS pistol, sig sauer P229 .40. It was supposed to be personalized with the Coast Guard seal in front of the rear sights and have Semper Paratus on the slide but of course that fell through. Here's the p229

What I would love to do later on in my coast guard career is to obtain a level III license for a suppressor and trick out the piece like this.

I've got 8 more days to go to get my Sig and I'll post how I feel about it once I get back from the range with it.

I love the 229, I've got the expert medal in the CG with it. It definitely holds a place in my heart and in my hand. I will own it sooner or later.

Here's my recent purchase,Ruger LC9, for concealment carry. So stoked!  This little 3" barrel 9mm is dead balls accurate! I was shooting a consistent 8" wide circle at 25yards. I love it and can't wait to start carrying her.

I think I'm still favoring the P220. I've never been a fan of "little" guns myself, just an aesthetic thing.

You dont get little guns because of they look. You get them because you can conceal them. I want either the Bodygaurd or the Nano for an ankle carry. Read: too fat for waist carry.

Anyway, its a last ditch personal protection if you get caught in a bind. Here in the good ol US of Murrica we can carry conealed with a permit. Only thing that sucks is there isnt an employer I know besides gun stores that let you bring a gun into work. Then the one guy who does brings in like 3 and shoots up the place. No one there has a gun because of the rules, right when you need one.

Yeah, I'm one of those who wouldn't carry even if I could, so any gun I end up buying would be purely based on looks and fun at a range.

Same here. But I can't carry. I think there have been maybe 5 cases in Canadian history where an open carry permit has been issued (from what I've heard), but it's under extreme circumstances and nowhere near cities or any other sort of civilization.

All looks and fun making the decision here.

Oh, and on a related note, my firearms licence application is finally making some progress with the RCMP. Paid for and in the system, I think they just need to call my references now, then issue.
I'll probably have it by Christmas/New Years.

Responding to 2 points here.

1) if you wear a vest or a sport coat (i wear a denim vest, or cotton one depending on my pant selection) a shoulder holster under your shirt (i wear underarmor, shoulder holster, tshirt) is how i carry. Full size carry to. Beretta Px4 Storm, 14+1 .40 S&W.

2) I gave up on the "weapons policy" years ago. The way i look at it is: the only way they are going to know, is if you use it; and I would rather find a new job, then have my next of kin find me a coffin.

To expand on this a little further, in case anyone was curious, or just likes a good read, here's a good post on what Canadians have to go through to get an ATC (authorization to carry).

Here's a snippet, but there's much more info in the link above.

I don't really take too much issue with that given stastically the crimes we fear the most are also the least likely to happen anyhow. But I make the claim that paranoid schizophrenia is a gun stores best friend!

Canada has a big hardon for making sure those who get licenced to own a firearm, know how to use it properly.  I agree 100% with this. I wouldn't want just anyone arming themselves. I want only people who know how to use them SAFELY.  Not some person who inherits a gun from their father who learned how to shoot from their father's father's father, who taught them self.
So if the Government allows someone to carry a restricted firearm (handgun, military style rifle) anywhere, and not just from point A to point B like it normally is, is a big deal. They want to be absolutely 100000% sure that they're using it for its intended purpose of personal safety, and absolutely nothing else.

I'm with you on that one. I've seen some of those coming and going to CCW classes, and I know some personally with CCWs who 1) shouldn't really have a firearm in the first place and 2) would never be able to hit their target if needed and 3) assume just because they shot at a paper target they will be able to react if and when that situation comes around. Taking that SWAT Medic class and being "shot" at with blanks was an eye opener for me as to just how you can forget that you have a weapon in your hand and freeze up because you think your being shot at, and that was only  with blanks. It really took the drilling and doing it over an over again to get us to respond properly to the scenario, which I why I have no issue with LE or active/former military carrying weapons as they are trained at a higher level to use them, the average joe, I feel they should have the right to own a weapon (for more than hunting) if they choose to do so (less than 50% of our country does last I checked) but I also feel they should then be held to a higher standard with responibility and accountabiilty and competency.

It's a bit unpopular with my hillbilly "friends" in the rural area I live in, but thats my take.

Speaking of paranoia, stocks in guns are on the rise following the election. "Preppers" are stocking up.
